Every day, people walk into my clinic and ask me to help erase something permanently marked on their skin. An ex’s name. A symbol from a version of themselves they have outgrown. A decision made at 18 that no longer reflects who they are at 35.

What I have learned in more than seven years of doing this work is that the tattoo is never really the point. It is always about something bigger: identity, change, grief, courage and the quiet act of giving yourself permission to move forward.
